Agroforestry
The Agroforestry Program has been developed as a community-based conservation strategy that integrates the planting of native forest tree species with fruit trees and economically valuable crops within
community-managed lands and social forestry areas. This approach aims to enhance vegetation cover while strengthening local economic resilience through environmentally sustainable production systems.
The program supports the capacity development of forest farmer groups through training in nursery management, planting techniques, maintenance practices, and the sustainable management of non-timber
forest products, enabling communities to become key actors in landscape restoration efforts.
In addition to supporting ecosystem rehabilitation, agroforestry initiatives are expected to reduce pressure on natural forests and strengthen ecological connectivity within the broader Ridge to Reef
management framework in the Anambas Islands.
