MARINE DEBRIS AND MICROPLASTICS

Marine Debris and Microplastics

Marine debris and plastic pollution pose a growing threat to coastal and marine ecosystems in the Anambas Islands. Waste that enters the ocean can harm marine wildlife, damage habitats, and eventually break down into microplastics that persist in the environment.

Through our Marine Debris and Microplastics initiative, we work alongside local communities, schools, and volunteers to remove waste from beaches and coastal areas across the Anambas Islands. These clean-up activities not only help protect marine ecosystems, but also raise awareness about the impacts of plastic pollution on wildlife and coastal communities.

Beyond collecting waste, we document the types of debris found to better understand pollution trends and support improved waste management efforts. By turning community action into knowledge, we hope to contribute to long-term solutions that reduce the flow of waste into the ocean.

Our Impact
