REEF REHABILITATION

Reef Rehabilitation

Coral reefs are one of the most important ecosystems in the Anambas Islands. They provide habitat for marine life, support local fisheries, and help protect coastlines from waves and erosion. However, many reef areas have been damaged by climate change and human activities, making recovery efforts increasingly important.

Through our Reef Rehabilitation program, we work to help damaged reefs recover and thrive again. Together with local communities, we restore reef habitats through coral transplantation, artificial reefs, coral nurseries, and regular monitoring.

Artificial Reefs

Artificial reefs provide a stable place for corals to grow and marine life to return. These structures create new habitats for fish and other reef species while helping damaged reef areas recover over time.

Coral Nurseries

Coral nurseries allow young corals to grow in a protected environment before they are transplanted to restoration sites. This helps increase coral survival and supports larger-scale reef restoration efforts.

Coral Transplantation

Once the corals are ready, they are carefully transplanted onto degraded reef areas. We continue to monitor their growth and condition to ensure the restoration process is successful and contributes to long-term reef recovery.

Our Impact

What we have achieved

5,000 artificial reefs installed
2,800 m² reef rehabilitated
27,000 coral fragments planted

Restored reef habitats and enhanced marine biodiversity.
