Ridge to Reef
The Ridge to Reef Program implemented in the Anambas Islands adopts an integrated landscape management approach that connects terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems as a single, interdependent ecological system. The program aims to maintain the critical functions of forests as hydrological buffers, erosion control mechanisms, and protectors of coastal water quality, which directly influence the health of mangrove and coral reef ecosystems. Through collaboration with local communities, forest farmer groups, local government authorities, and other key stakeholders, the program encompasses forest conservation, land rehabilitation, community-based governance strengthening, biodiversity monitoring, environmental education, and the development of sustainable livelihoods. These efforts are designed to ensure a balanced approach between ecosystem protection and the long-term wellbeing of island communities.
